Technical Information: From the 1983 Brunswick Billiards Virginian sell sheet: Brunswick’s Virginian billiard table is an elegant statement in oak. The styling is traditional and the playability is pure Brunswick. A 2 ¼-inch thick, full-length center beam provides lasting strength and four cross supports insure maximum rigidity. Oak rails are supported by and bolted through the slate. The three-piece slate is precision ground level to within 10/1000 of an inch. CENTENNIAL® cushions assure maximum accuracy and consistent rebound. Rails: Oak rails are supported by and bolted through the slate for maximum rigidity. Specially designed floating nut plate allows rail to be precisely positioned and permanently pulled down to the slate. Finish: Handsome furniture finish enhances the natural oak beauty. Cushions: CENTENNIAL® cushions assure maximum accuracy and consistent rebound. Sights: Pearlized inlaid sights have a maximum tolerance of 30/1000 of an inch for accurate play. Cloth: Billiard cloth is optional; however, Brunswick recommends a professional wool/nylon blend to assure excellent playability. Pockets: All pocket openings made to exacting industry standards. Leather net pockets are accented with brown suede fringe. Slate: Three-piece precision ground slate provides a permanent level playing surface. Slate is precision-machined level to within 10/1000 of an inch and extends underneath the rails for consistent playability. Base Frame: Base frame is composed of two full-length side beams and full-length 2 ¼-inch thick center beam for lasting strength. Four cross supports provide additional rigidity.
