Summary |
The front side of this advertisement, which appears to be torn from a magazine, markets the Brunswick-Balke-Collender Company's billiard and bowling equipment to potential proprietors. The ad states, "There is more money in the Billiard of Bowling business than any other line requiring the same amount of capital investment. After the inital investment the tables or alleys will pay for themselves and leave a handsome profit for the owner." The reverse side of the page advertises exercise equipment: "Indulge in Athletic Exercises: The one who devotes a little time each day to exercise and recreation is the one who is 'there' when an extra amount of energy is needed, because he has the vitality to stand the extra pressure needed to solve life's problems." The exercise equipment advertised includes a striking bag and platform (for boxing), a "combination spring exerciser with patented grip handles," and an "expanding bar bell exerciser." The ad also lists instructional books for a variety of activities, including books written by famous bodybuilder Eugen Sandow, his teacher Professor Attila (born Louis Durlacher), and boxer James J. Corbett (see Notes for the entire list of instruction books). |
