Summary |
Technical Information: From the 1993 Brunswick Billiards Pioneer sell sheet: Brunswick Billiards introduces the Pioneer, a revolutionary new table with a non-slate playfield called Slatec. Slatec is super rigid and super stable, offering excellent playability similar to a slate surface. This innovative new table offers consumers much more than just a high quality alternative to slate. The Pioneer is storable and can be easily and quickly installed within 15 to 30 minutes. Not only that, the Pioneer is lightweight and can be handled by two average adults. Unlike most tables on the market today, the Pioneer comes completely assembled and includes a high-quality wool synthetic blend cloth. The Pioneer is available in a contemporary black, pebble-textured finish or golden oak grain finish and comes in 6' , 7' and 8' pocket models. Sights: Inset sights are rigidly quality controlled to assure accurate placement. Rails: High-pressure laminate is resistant to burns, stains, and scratches. Rails are supported by and bolted through the Slatec bed for maximum rigidity. Finish: The Pioneer is available in a sleek black pebble-textured finish or rich oak-grain finish. Playfield: Bed is a revolutionary new playing surface called Slatec, a sandwich construction that is super rigid and super stable yet lightweight. In laboratory tests, the Slatec bed can withstand over 600 pounds static load with minimum deflection. Slatec is two sheets of 45 lb. density MDF, covered in vinyl, with a sandwich of 2 lb. density polystyrene foam in the center of the two sheets. The playing surface of the Slatec bed (excluding cloth) is impervious to spill damage by most liquids and solvents and is resistant to temperature and humidity extremes. Slatec is an exclusive formula of Brunswick and is patent-pending worldwide. Construction: Machine nuts and bolts are used throughout the construction to ensure maximum stability. The Pioneer comes completely assembled. The buyer can quickly install the table in 15 to 30 minutes with only two simple tools-an adjustable wrench and a level. Because the Pioneer is lightweight and portable, it can be moved easily by two average adults. Leg Braces: Heavy-gauge metal braces bolted to each side of the legs add extra stability and enable the legs to be folded under for easy storage. Pockets: All pocket openings are made to exacting industry standards. Cloth: Billiard cloth is a high-quality wool/synthetic blend that provides excellent playability and durability. The Pioneer comes complete with the cloth already installed. Cushions: This table features Brunswick’s exclusive Centennial® cushions. These precision-molded, canvas-backed cushions are known for their accuracy and live action. Last available manufacturer suggested retail price, 1996: 8', $1300. Photo: Manual: |
