Summary |
This advertisement, placed in the Saturday Evening Post issue of February 7, 1914, recommends purchasing a Brunswick "Baby Grand" Billiard Table as a gift for a man or a boy, although the ad notes that "Men and women, boys and girls, find equal delight" in the game. The Baby Grand Home Billiard Table was made of mahogany with a slate bed and Monarch cushions and came with a playing outfit of cues, balls, bridge, rack, markers, chalk, a cover, billiard brush, and an instructional book. For boys, the ad promises, the table "brings invaluable mental training, seasoned with wholesome fun. It satisfies his craving for excitement -- keeps him contentedly at home." For men, "it affords the relaxation, exercise and amusement which keeps body and brain in tune." |
